Recently, I had two photos published in the UC Berkeley Journal from the Spanish and Portuguese department, Lucero for their 25th volume. This volume focuses on themes of performance and resistance through both academic and creative genres. My photographs reflect on how, through acts of leisure and performances of faith, urban minorities in Brazil are able to affirm a sense of self and resist systemic oppression.
